The Superfoods You Should Eat During Addiction Recovery

When it comes to getting treatment for addiction, there’s an awful lot to think about. Firstly, there’s giving up what you’re addicted to, and then there’s understanding what the root of the problem was in the first place.

Your life undergoes a complete overhaul, and that includes your diet. You may be used to snacking on junk food when consuming weed, but in cannabis private rehab there’s no munchies, but rather a healthy, and well balanced diet.

And there’s a reason for that. Food can have a massive impact on how we’re feeling, from motivation to happiness, and if there’s two things you need when going through addiction treatment and into recovery, it’s those.

In fact, there are some real superfoods that you should be adding to your diet moving forwards, which include:

Tofu

Yes, the meat eaters may turn their nose up here but tofu is an excellent source of proteins and is great for repairing damage in the body. For alcohol abusers especially, tofu can play an important role in assisting the liver in recuperation.

What’s more, while tofu alone can be quite bland, you can do almost anything with it and there are some fantastic recipes around from Indian curries to Mexican dishes and so much more.

Bananas

Bananas are rich in tryptophan, an amino acid that aids the formation of serotonin, a neurotransmitter that promotes relaxation and sleep, which will give you the energy to attack the day when it comes to your recovery.

Whole grains

We all know whole grains are good for you, so make sure you have plenty while in addiction recovery. They are high in fibre and will help restore your digestive system back to how it should be. Drugs and alcohol can really play around with your digestion and cause some pretty painful problems. A diet that’s high in fibre will get you back to full health in this department.

Vegetables

Your body will take a battering while abusing drugs and alcohol, and it will be starved of the nutrients it needs as during addiction the body doesn’t process them properly.

A vegetable rich diet will help restore those nutrients to the levels they should be in the body and also help improve your physical appearance as the different parts of your body, such as your skin and hair will be getting what they need.
